Storyline

A $100 million dollar donation brings along a new Chairman of the Board to the hospital, with both Cuddy and Wilson seeing a clash coming against House. Meanwhile, as Cameron exercises newly acquired manipulation skills on her colleagues, House and team take a look at a high-ranking business woman experiencing a severe leg pain. In the clinic, House meets a man rendered mute from knee surgery, who sued the hospital successfully. Both may be cured, but somewhat surreptitiously. Written by statmanjeff

Goofs

Once given, Vogler's money would have been considered the asset of the hospital. While they could make him Chairman of the Board, as a charitable or educational organization, he could not cancel the gift because the board did not do everything his way. See more »

Quotes

Ricky van der Meer: [talking about his dumb father] He had knee surgery.
Dr. Gregory House: Right.
Ricky van der Meer: About a year ago, and then he couldn't talk.
Dr. Gregory House: Right. Yeah, well, that happens. It's... it's very dangerous operating so close to the vocal chords.

Dual plots that add something

House treats a Type A business executive -- worse yet, a female -- whose leg has suddenly gone numb, and the hospital gets a new boss, a pushy, bottom-line multimillionaire who immediately targets House's department for removal. Chi McBride plays the new boss in truly menacing fashion. Meanwhile, the female executive must deal with a lot worse than a numb leg before the finale, and House gets himself in a major heap of trouble by withholding crucial data from his boss, Cuddy, about the female executive, in order to get her on a transplant list. The new boss strongly resembles the Kingpin from DAREDEVIL, and makes a great foil for House to play against in this and upcoming episodes. Cuddy is caught in the crossfire, and Lisa Edelstein gets to do some superior acting as she seeks to defend House and her own position from the tyrannical McBride.
