Production Mistake
9 November 2010 | by jimbitSee all my reviews

This story uses some Russian over a 2-way radio. Whoever was responsible for keeping the 2 radio transmissions in Russian got them backwards. The first one should be second and the second should be first. Scott translates the first message they intercept as "The girl won't talk." But that was the second Russian message. But the script in English followed the plot correctly. The radio messages in Russian did not. Of course not everyone who watched or watches the show would notice or care. As a lifetime Russian linguist, I've always been interested in Scotty's linguistic abilities. I blame the creators for making a character whom they believed could speak however many languages. They probably didn't care that he spoke none of them well.
