Storyline

Vince Jackson meets Harvey Dodds in a stable at Cheyenne. Dodds has paid Jackson $300 to leave his daughter alone, but Jackson has reneged on his promise. He puts on a shooting demo by singing Dodds' coat with bullets but his partner Hutch stops him before he puts a bullet in Dodds head. Meanwhile, in Cheyenne, Kitty McAllen is being stood up by Slim who has to ride a stage hoping to catch road bandits. Kitty is miffed as he leaves, so when she runs into Vince Jackson at a restaurant as she waits for her father Fred, they accept Vince's offer for dinner. The next day Kitty and her father, with Vince, take the stage to their home in Laramie with a stop at Slim's ranch. Kitty not only ignores Slim but stands him up that night for a dance to attend with Vince. Slim and Jess are not fooled by Vince's slick clothes and manners but Kitty soon finds herself the target of Vince's extortion plan. Written by Anonymous

They call you Coquette
13 January 2018 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

Both Slim Sherman and Jess Harper during the Laramie series run very rarely got too seriously involved with women, both guys were about getting whatever job was at hand done. But in this story John Smith is courting the very coquettish Carolyn Craig who is the daughter of Overland Stage supervisor Parley Baer.

I think Slim was wasting his time here and probably after giving it some thought would have passed. She decides to make John Smith jealous and uses the courtly Ray Danton as a foil.

But Danton is a dangerous man, a fast gun who really hates the female species if you read between the lines. He and a partner Peter Whitney have a love 'em and extort the father kind of scheme going though the story never really makes clear what Whitney's part is other than act as a brake on Danton's occasional bad impulses.

I think you can understand where this one is headed, certainly not to the altar for Slim Sherman.
