Storyline

A bushwhacking attempt on Jess Harper by Ned Billings reveals the wreckage of a Union gold wagon stolen by Confederate raiders and opens old wounds for Slim Sherman when accusations against his father helping the rebels are resurrected. Jess took Ned's body to Sheriff Cory who contacted the Army. They send Maj. John Ellis and Sgt. Nolan to investigate. During the war the Confederates stole $60,000 from the Union. Slim's father was involved but he never told Slim how. Slim and Jess set out with Maj. John Ellis and Sgt. Nolan. Nolan notices they are being followed. It turns out to be James Courtland, the officer accused of helping the rebels steal the gold wagons, and his son Will. They hope to find the lost convoy and prove his father was innocent of helping the Confederacy. They aren't the only one's interested in the lost gold convoy, there are others that will stop at nothing to get the gold, including the real Yankee traitor that helped steal the gold. Old war wounds
10 March 2017 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

A bushwhacking attempt on Robert Fuller by someone he takes care off opens some old suspicions about Slim Sherman's late father Matt Sherman who may have been involved with the theft of an army gold shipment. In any event a rather arrogant and officious Major John Hoyt comes to take charge of the investigation. All traces of the shipment seemed to stop at the Sherman ranch.

Joining them are disgraced army officer Frank Overton and his son Dee Pollock also looking to clear his name or maybe find the gold for himself. In any event it's one strained posse that's looking for clues at the same time eyeing each other suspiciously. The only one we know is on the up and up is John Smith.

The story is an interesting one with an ending right out of The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre.
