When they try rustling Sherman cattle and Billy is caught, Daisy convinces Jess not to press charges but to make Billy work off the damages. Billy rubs Jess the wrong way with his sullen attitude but young Mike takes a shine to him, especially since he's teaching Billy to read. When a run in with Jess causes Billy to run away, he heads back to his no account friends, who are planning to rob his uncle. Daisy, having convinced Jess to take her to town to search for Billy, end up a hostage with Billy while his friends try to rob his uncle. A wayward youth causes problems in Laramie.
24 August 2016 | by kfo9494See all my reviews

In this episode, a rebellious young man, Billy, is causing problems in the town of Laramie. Billy has made some new friends with some vagrant cowboys by the name of Johnny and Samson. But these friends are even more problems for Billy since they have eye on breaking the law.

One evening the cowboys talk Billy into cattle rustling at the Sherman ranch. When it is all done Billy is spotted and Jess is going to issue a warrant for Billy's arrest. Daisy, in her usual grandmother ways, talks Jess into not signing but letting the youth work off the damage on the farm. Of course, it is not going to be easy for Billy. And with the two cowboys nearby, Billy is going to be tested.

Even though the plot was very predictable, the story was written well enough to produce an interesting tale. James Best, that played one of the cowboys, was outstanding in making his character so rotten that the viewer felt part of the story. Even with a very quick ending to the story, the episode held enough interest to make for an nice watch.
