As a medicine man is peddling his wares on the street, two well dressed men arrive on the stage. They register at the hotel. The owner upon reading their names becomes visibly shaken. Later the men tell Troop they are looking for a lost cousin that might have come to town six years ago with considerable money. He has come into an inheritance. Troop doesn't give them a name but believes it is Joe Brockway. However, Joe denies it is him. The men ask Oren Slauson, the banker, who immediately gives them Joe's name. Joe and his wife finally go to Troop and tell him there is a $20,000 reward on his head for shooting John Wilkes Booth. After disarming the two men, Troop and Johnny stay close to them. However, when one goes for a walk, Johnny can't be found nor Joe. Troop realizes they were smuggled out in the medicine man's wagon. He tracks the wagon rescuing the men after wounding the two kidnappers.
