  • Jason is trying to break the bench press record set by Bulk, but he keeps getting distracted and is unable to beat the record. First, his coach, the Juice Bar's owner Ernie, loses count. Then Kimberly blows an enormous bubble of bubble gum that draws the crowd's attention away from Jason, but then Zack skateboards and bumps into her by accident, which results in gum splattering on both of their faces and Jason losing his concentration. During a break from his attempt to break the bench press record, Jason admits that being unable to break the record has shaken his self-esteem and he kindly rejects the help from his friends, Zack and Kimberly, to do it. Rita Repulsa uses this to her advantage when she releases a new monster, King Sphinx, that lures out the three Rangers to battle in the Children's Theater in the park. During the battle, the Sphinx sends Kimberly and Zack away and he transports Jason to the mountains for a duel. When the Red Ranger starts to get the upper hand during the fight, Rita sends Goldar to help King Sphinx fight Jason and then she makes both of them grow with her magic wand. Jason is now isolated from his friends and contact to him is now impossible, including being unable to call upon his own Zord. It is up to the other four Rangers to regroup, find Jason and call upon a new source of power, the Power Crystals, in order to reach Jason, call on their Zords, and help the Red Ranger stop King Sphinx once and for all. After the fight with Megazord destroys the monster and makes Goldar retreat, Jason is able to finally break the bench press record with the help of his friends.
