Trivia

The Nehru jacket was a popular fashion item that hipsters wore in the 1960s after becoming famous by its use by Pandit Nehru, the former Prime Minister of India . The joke here is that not only does Rockford have one in his closet (something that is completely out of character for a hard boiled detective), but that he still has it, even though it went out of fashion ten years before. Goofs

When Rockford first meets Mr. Masters in the mansion and they are standing at the base of the stairs, a boom mic is visible sweeping across the paneling when Mr. Masters turns to walk further down the stairs. See more »

Quotes

Jim Rockford: [as Alta sets soup and crackers before him] What's that?
Margaret 'Alta' Hatch: Dinner - I'll get mine.
Jim Rockford: Oh, well, that'll be a real energy boost - I'll just wolf this right down and go out and stop a freight train.
Margaret 'Alta' Hatch: That, my dear sir, is a fashion model's feast. Go easy on the wheat thins.
Jim Rockford: That's gastronomically impossible.
Margaret 'Alta' Hatch: Well, a real fashion model would have had saltless crackers - but what the hell - let's splurge.

The only two who believe they're connected
2 March 2015 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

The posh world of the fashion industry is the setting for this Rockford Files Story. James Garner is Jim Rockford's client in this episode where he does not believe that his friend Chris Palmer did a dive off her motel balcony in a suicide. No, not after she called Rockford and said she was in big trouble.

Palmer was a working model, but another big leader in the industry was shot to death. Too much of a coincidence for Rockford to believe the deaths were not connected. Too much of a coincidence also for Palmer's friend Erin Gray who is a former model, but not in the business.

Garner's investigation takes him to a boutique owned by Marisa Pavan with some sexy leather boys as security, a Versace like designer played by a most flamboyant Rene Auberjonois and a banker/loan shark played by Howard Witt. It all connects.

Connecting is the big problem. Only Garner and Erin Gray believe the murder and the murder the cops are calling suicide are connected.

Do you doubt that they're persistence pays off?
