Storyline

The Enterprise visit the planet Angel One in the hopes of rescuing the survivors of a Federation vessel that crashed there several years before. It's taken many years for them to receive the distress call and they're not sure what to expect. They do know that Angel One is a matriarchal society where women are the stronger and men adopt a more subservient role. They face an unusual problem when they find the survivors. As for Riker, he has to tread carefully when the planet's leader, Beata, takes an interest in him. Aboard the Enterprise Picard and Dr. Crusher have their own crisis when a severe flu epidemic strikes the crew. Written by garykmcd

When Data, Troi, and Tasha beam to the survivors, Data is seen clearly adjusting the force setting on his phaser and putting it in its holster. When he materializes at the campsite, he is holding the phaser in his hand. Tasha also adjusted her's before transporting, but it is clearly in the holster until she removes it. See more »

Amazon society
9 April 2019 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

This TNG story has the crew of the Enterprise on a world called Angel One in search of some survivors of an earth freighter lost in the region years back. Some escape pods may have made their way.

It's a real thorny problem for the away team consisting of Jonathan Frakes, Denise Crosby, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner. There's an Amazon like society that's developed on the planet with the women in leadership. Being women they bear the children which begs the question what do the men do? Like drone bees I suppose.

The women consider the survivors subversive and want to kill them. Riker has a real tricky diplomatic issue to deal with.

In the meantime there's a nasty virus which has a lot of the crew ailing as Gates McFadden looks for an antidote. One of those nick of time situations.

The amazon part is a much stronger story than the virus.
