Three wagons carrying the Bleecker family are near Fort Bridger when the young brother Dave Bleecker spots a lone Shoshone brave on a mountain top overlooking the wagons. With a couple of shots he kills the brave which brings the ire of his older brother Al. Al is worried about someone hearing the shots. In a couple of minutes a rider, Duke Shannon, rides up while scouting for the Hale wagon train. Al and his mother Ma Beecker tell Duke they are farmers looking for a wagon train to join up with to head west. Duke tells them where to go to meet the wagon train the next day. As he leaves he asks about the shots which led him to them but Dave says he was trying to kill a jack rabbit. After Duke leaves Al makes Dave go bury the brave. When the Beeckers join the wagon train, they refuse to mix with the others including stopping the unmarried Jenny Hynes from going to the dances. In reality they want the wagon train to use as cover to get into Fort Bridger to rob the gold bullion stored ...
