A Sobering Episode
23 March 2010 | by ccthemovieman-1See all my reviews

"Blood is thicker than water, Harry."

"Yeah, and so is whiskey!"

This is a story of a drunk, an older guy played by well-known film and TV actor Harold J. Stone. He plays "Harry Simmons," who also is an old buddy of Josh's. Everyone wants to sober this guy up before he drinks himself to death because he's a likable sort.

This episode wasn't one of my favorites because I never found "sloppy drunks" to be funny, although humor is attempted here. It's nothing personal; nothing I ever dealt with in my family but I just don't see humor in a person who is plastered and acting like a fool. Nonetheless you used to see a lot of this in older films and TV shows from "The Thin Man" on down.

Stone is interesting in that lead role so if don't mind "alcoholism" being the main topic here, You'll probably enjoy the episode.
