Scarlett Johansson Says Avengers: Endgame’s A Beautiful Valentine To A Decade Of Madness

Avengers: Endgame is being marketed as the culmination point for over a decade of big screen adventures, and as the Avengers: Infinity War sequel brings the current era to a close, you can expect the movie to pay tribute to all that came before it.

In an interview Empire, Scarlett Johansson was asked if she’d seen any footage from Endgame, to which she replied:

“I have. From what I can tell, what’s foremost in the [Russo] Brothers’ minds is really delivering something that is a poetic and beautiful Valentine to a decade of madness.”

It’s long been assumed that Marvel’s Phase 3 finale will contain plenty of nods to the McU’s previous entries, and the last trailer made that all the clearer with its flashbacks to earlier films. How exactly the movie will incorporate all this superhero history into the drama has yet to be confirmed, but for the last year,

Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage to play Brothers in Twins-style comedy

THR is reporting that Avengers: Infinity War co-stars Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage are set to team up for the comedy Brothers, which is in development at Legendary Entertainment.

Scripted by Etan Cohen, the film will see Brolin and Dinklage starring as two unlikely brothers, in a similar vein to the 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito comedy Twins. Specific plot details are being kept under wraps.

In addition to starring, Brolin and Dinklage will also produce through their Brolin Productions and Esutary Films companies respectively, as will Andrew Lazar (American Sniper).

Brolin will next be seen this April as he reprises the role of Thanos for Avengers: Endgame, while Dinklage returns that same month as Tyrion Lannister for the eighth and final season of HBO’s epic fantasy Game of Thrones.

Peter Dinklage and Josh Brolin are Brothers in New Comedy

Kirsten Howard Mar 1, 2019

This sounds fun, but...it's from the writer of Holmes and Watson.

It seems Etan Cohen, the man behind last year's critically-savaged Holmes And Watson, didn't fail hard enough with that Razzie-scooper. The film, which reunited the Step Brothers duo of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, technically kinda broke even, but with marketing factored in, it was a collar-heater overall for Sony.

Cohen's new script, Brothers, was recently the central prize of a bidding war that ended in Legendary's favor, and now it has two tantalizing actors attached in the pairing of Infinity War's Thanos and Eitri the Dwarf King, aka Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage. We didn't see the two have to deal with each other on screen in that film, but we will in Brothers, and the basic idea of seeing them together playing siblings does sound like a whole ton of fun, but

Turkish Directors Find Homes at Berlin, Other Global Film Festivals
Political turbulence is making it tough for filmmakers in Turkey with ambitions to make movies that can travel globally. But despite many impediments, Turkish auteurs are still managing to maintain a significant presence on the festival circuit.

The past year has seen auteur Nuri Bilge Ceylan back at Cannes with “The Wild Pear Tree”; newcomer Omar Atay’s “Brothers” bowed to positive reviews at Karlovy Vary; Tolga Karacelik’s “Butterfiles” make a splash at Sundance, where it won the Grand Jury prize; and Mahmout Fazil Coskun’s biting “The Announcement,” about a failed 1963 Turkish army coup, scooped the Special Jury nod in Venice’s Horizons section, among other outings.

Kicking off 2019 with an auspicious start is Emin Alper’s third feature, “A Tale of Three Sisters,” competing for a Berlin Golden Bear. Alper’s politically charged drama “Frenzy,” set in a dystopian Istanbul, won Venice’s Jury Special Prize in

Sundance Film Review: ‘After the Wedding’

Sundance Film Review: ‘After the Wedding’
The female characters are the least interesting thing in the original version of “After the Wedding,” an otherwise exceptional, Oscar-nominated Danish drama from “Bird Box” director Susanne Bier. Fortunately, that’s not at all true of a sharp new English-language remake that gender-flips the two lead roles to be played by women, providing an incredibly rich showcase for the immense talents of Julianne Moore (who goes big) and Michelle Williams (understated and devastating) in the process.

So often it happens that American producers fall in love with a perfectly strong foreign film, snapping up the remake rights, only to water it down for domestic consumption. That’s not the case here, as all involved have endeavored to maintain, if not strengthen, a grown-up scenario that respects the audience’s intelligence, even as it rather shamelessly hikes the emotional stakes with nearly every scene once the momentum gets going. After a point,

Rising Bronx Rapper Lil Tjay Will Make You Feel Old

Lil Tjay sucks his teeth in dissatisfaction. Sitting on a couch at Sony’s Manhattan office, he’s either shy or aggressively uninterested in talking. When he’s asked about the rappers who shaped his style, a slight clanking of his chain is the only noise in the awkward silence that ensues.

“A lot of older influences,” he answers, finally. “Like Drake, Meek.”

Drake and Meek Mill are both in their early thirties. Drake and Meek are old?

Tjay clarifies that he’s merely talking about people outside of his generation.

Why Bird Box is Different from Other Apocalyptic Movies

Don Kaye Dec 30, 2018

Director Susanne Bier tells us why Bird Box drew her to the sci-fi genre for the first time.

There is a frightening intensity and sense of helplessness in Bird Box, the apocalyptic new sci-fi/horror film available to watch on Netflix, which sets it apart from a lot of other efforts in its genre. Based on the book by Josh Malerman, the film is set in a world where civilization quickly falls apart due to the onset of a bizarre new threat: an unseen supernatural force that appears to each individual as their darkest fear, driving everyone who sees it to homicidal or suicidal rage.

The only answer is to move about the outside world with one’s eyes covered, a solution discovered by Malorie (Sandra Bullock) and the small band of survivors she finds barricaded in a house. Malorie, an artist, is pregnant and far from
