Victoria goes looking for David in the old house and finds Barnabas Collins instead. Barnabas apologizes for startling her. Soon he's telling her all about the old house--and how it was built with cruelty and hatred, much like the Egyptian pyramids. Roger notices Barnabas's ring and is struck by how much it resembles that of the Barnabas in the portrait in the foyer. After Barnabas is gone, he, Carolyn and Victoria gather around the portrait. Carolyn says the portrait doesn't just resemble the Barnabas they had just met. It seems to be a portrait of him.
