Storyline

A huge spruce is cut down in the mountains to be used as a Christmas tree in the center of Sofia. As it is transported across the country it becomes the link between six stories that explore celebration or the luck of celebration in the everyday lives of the protagonists. The structure of the film is fragmentary, as our life is these days and the stories resemble snapshots of existence - moments of cruelty and longing, of beauty and disgrace... The tree is already decorated - the celebration may began! Written by Georgi Djulgerov <georgidjul1943@gmail.com>

one of the best Bulgarian movies for years
1 April 2007 | by ivo5847See all my reviews

It's one of the best Bulgarian movies I have seen for years. I was very pleased by the excellent directing, great cinematography and great cast. The several different stories in the movie are very good collective representation of the contemporary Bulgarian society, encompassing many different aspects of it. The philosophic topics, though, are rather universal. The cinematography not only works great with the story, but it also shows the beauty of the Bulgarian landscape with a great diversity. I recommend this movie to everyone who wants to rediscover Bulgarian cinema, but also to those of you who are yet to discover it or simply want to learn something about Bulgaria.
