Julia Bentley, the new wife of influential Sam Bentley, arouses suspicion by her consistent and profitable success in the members' bridge games at Big Oaks Country Club. In hopes of avoiding a divisive confrontation with Sam Bentley, Club Committeeman Tom Grant asks Captain Braddock to discreetly investigate the matter. He agrees to do so, and enlists the services of reformed cardsharp Chip Madigan to observe Julia and determine the reasons for her success. Chip's background enables him to easily discern Julia's methods for obtaining winning hands and, at Captain Braddock's urging, he puts a gentle but definite end to her chicanery by giving the club members an impromptu demonstration of card manipulation techniques.Written by
Capt. John Braddock:
A word of advice. If you must play card games for money, keep the stakes low, know what you're doing, watch whom you're playing with or what happened to Betty Grant and her friends could happen to you!

This is an unusual case. A rich middle-aged man marries a pretty lady, Julia (Hillary Brooke). Despite having lots of money, over time it appears that Julia is a card shark--and she keeps winning again and again at Bridge at the local Country Club. One of the victims goes to Captain Braddock (Reed Hadley) to ask him to investigate.
What makes this episode unusual is that this is NOT really high-stakes Bridge--though the money does add up over time. Such a small-time racket is usually something that doesn't come to police attention and why would a rich woman do this?
Captain Braddock's solution is pretty simple. He takes an ex-card shark to the club and has him observe Mrs. Bentley to see IF she is cheating-- and if so, how?
How all this is then handled is what makes this such an unusual case. It makes for an excellent episode--one of the better in the series.
