After Doc killed some men involved in trying to frame Earp, Earp's friends including Judge Tobin and Mayor Kelley as well as Deputy Norton believe Earp's friendship with Doc is hurting his reputation in Dodge City. They urge him to break off the friendship. While they discuss the issue with Earp, Doc is outside of town playing cards with his old friend Snaky Gratton and his gang. Snaky has to end the game as the outlaw gang has plans to ambush five ex-members who took their money and turned the gang into the Texas Rangers. Kate Holliday worried about Doc goes to see Earp telling him Doc was with Snaky just after Deputy Norton reports the five dead men ambushed by the Snaky gang adding to Earp's problem. Kate explains Doc's actions to Tobin and Kelley while Earp and Deputy Norton find Doc returning to Dodge City and then the bodies.
