  • Today on Sesame Street, we are given an alphabetical welcome from the residents, each one revealing that their name begins with a certain letter of the alphabet. When we get through 'X', they reveal that 'Y' is for "You", as in those viewers who frequently visit. Alas, there is no one on Sesame Street whose name begins with 'Z'. Later, Mr. Snuffleupagus shows up and plays a game of "London Bridge is Falling Down" with the kids. Then, the street is paid a visit from SAM, a super automatic machine who thinks he is perfect and better than people (despite the facts).

Sesame Street is brought to us today by the number 2, as well as the letter D, which is saluted by Ernie in the song "Dee, Dee, Dee", with Cookie Monster anxiously trying to keep up. Simon Soundman sings a song about an experience he once had, using his mouth to demonstrate the sounds and noises involved. A bridge of teeth pays a call to an employment agency, looking for a job. In the hopes of striking lucky, it demonstrates its talent on the whole office. Count von Count makes his first ever apperance, eager to count blocks- even if it means taking Ernie's pyramid apart. Grover gives a lecture about heavy and light, with some painful (and befuddling results). Guy Smiley hosts his first episode of "Here is Your Life", celebrating the life of an oak tree in the forest. In an animated segment, a man discusses how the words 'enter' and 'exit' start with the letter E. Finally, waiter Grover serves Mr. Johnson some chicken soup- but forgets about the spoon.
