Zack Snyder Discusses Sucker Punch and How It's a Misunderstood Commentary on Sexism and Geek Culture

Sucker Punch was director Zack Snyder’s first original film production that wasn’t based on property that already existed. He set out to make an original film in an industry that was filled with reboots and sequels, and it didn’t really turn out as well as he would have hoped.

While the movie was packed full of awesome badass visuals of women kicking ass, the story wasn’t really solid ,and a lot of critics and audiences didn’t care for the movie. One of the main reasons why a lot of people didn’t care for it was that they felt it was sexist.

If you’ve seen the movie, it’s not hard to see why people would feel that way about it. But Snyder feels like those people misinterpreted the movie. During an interview with Donnia Harrington at ComicBookDebate, Snyder explained:

“I’m always shocked

Sonic The Hedgehog Trailer Criticism Leads to Redesign

Kirsten Howard May 3, 2019

That disturbing Sonic the Hedgehog design glimpsed in the trailer is going to be changed before release.

Earlier this week, a trailer for the very first Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie was released, and social media exploded with ...a lot of questions. Why does he look like that? Why "Gangsta's Paradise?" Why does he look like that? Are those human teeth? And why does he look like that?

Not only was there an avalanche of mockery on display in reaction to this new version of Sega's iconic ring-collector and his strange appearance, some eager artists started having a go at redesigning Sonic so that he looked, well, how you'd expect him to look.

This one by Sucker Punch's Edward Pun, for example, stands out...

Song You Need to Know: Sigrid, ‘Sucker Punch’
This singer from a tiny town in Norway first broke out in early 2017 with her rapturously cheesed off European hit, “Don’t Kill My Vibe,” the promising work of a then-20-year-old taking advantage of the wide open emotional spaces Robyn and Lorde had opened up in the club. Later that year Sigrid turned in an ace piano-goth take on Leonard Cohen’s synth-doom masterstroke “Everybody Knows,” and she brings a similar moody fearlessness to “Sucker Punch,” the title track from her debut album, out in early March.

11 Movies Shot on Smart Phones, from ‘Tangerine’ to ‘High Flying Bird’ (Photos)
Steven Soderbergh wasn’t the first filmmaker to shoot an entire movie on an iPhone, but with his latest film “High Flying Bird” he’s proved yet again that it’s totally possible to have a professional, beautiful looking movie filmed with something that fits in your pocket. Here are some other feature films and a few shorts that have made use of Apple’s flagship smartphone.

Soderbergh shot “High Flying Bird” on an iPhone 8, which is now capable of filming in 4K resolution. The wealthy and bright realms of power atop expensive restaurants and skyscrapers for high-powered agents is far different than the mood Soderbergh was chasing on “Unsane,” but the film even has a sequence in which the action of a one-on-one basketball match isn’t captured on camera but by teenagers on, what else, their phones.

Starz Female Stars And Producers On Nightmare Incidents & Whether Life On Set Is Getting Better – TCA

  • Deadline
A Starz TCA panel comprised of the network’s leading actresses and series creators tackled the question whether life on set is getting better post #MeToo. And while many acknowledge that indeed it is, “It’s the tiny moments” per American Gods thespian Emily Browning that’s still creating confusion.

“I’m sure all of us have a nightmare we heard or experienced, but now there is a space for us to be able to tell those stories. There are certain things I don’t think people can get away with anymore. What’s still kind of evolving, and they’re not nightmare stories — it’s the tiny moments. Things that are a little bit ambiguous where a woman automatically feels like ‘Did that just happen to me or am I just being sensitive? Do I bring this story forward? Is it believable or does something worse need to happen?
