Wow is Hart self-absorbed in this one.

This episode is the sort of thing you NEVER would have seen in the original CBS version of "The Paper Chase". But, the show was re- booted and came to Showtime--so showing Hart and his girlfriend in bed and a variety of interesting expletives in this episode is what you get when a show leaves network programming. So, hold on to your hat and enjoy "Mrs. Hart".

The set-up for this particular show seems to be a bit lacking. While Hart and Leeman had been shown as a couple previously, in this one suddenly the relationship takes a HUGE jump forward--too huge to be particularly realistic. Now, after a night in bed together, Hart not only wants to marry this first-year student BUT his reasoning and timing seem very unrealistic and silly. Why MUST he marry her now (he never considers that they could marry in a year or two)? Why doesn't Hart seem to care whether his girlfriend reciprocates these feelings? Why would THE most dedicated student at the university suddenly toss his grand plans aside in a moment of weakness? And, why would Hart be so selfish and egocentric that he'd discourage Leeman from taking THE opportunity of a lifetime when it is surprisingly offered to her towards the end of the show?

The secondary plot is, at times, quite comical and involves Bell arbitrarily canceling a dorm party. After all, he is the boss of the dorm, he CAN do this. But WHY and HOW is a problem--and a prank-oriented first-year student decides to make Bell's life miserable. Later, Bell finds himself in a relationship, of sorts, with a first-year student.

Overall, this is an enjoyable episode in many ways but it's also frustrating because the writing is a bit inconsistent. Hart, usually a wonderful character, seems oddly uncharacteristic and jerky. As a result, I think it's a bit sub-par...though still enjoyable.
