Trivia

This is the first season finale to feature the song "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas. It was previously used over the original montage of 1.21 "Salvation" (though on Netflix that particular instance of the song's usage had to be replaced due to licensing issues). The song has gone on to be used at the beginning of every season finale since then, and has come to be regarded by fans as an unofficial theme song for the show. See more »

Goofs

After the yellow eyed demon throws Dean against the tombstone in the final battle, Dean is seen with a large gash over his eye that drips a long, thick stream of blood across his forehead and down his nose, ending under his other eye. It is still visible when he shoots the yellow eyed demon a few scenes later. However, moments later, the thick stream of blood is gone, and no trace of it (I.E. if he had wiped it away) can be seen. Sam Winchester: You saved my life over and over. Man you sacrifice everything for me, don't you think I'd do the same for you? You're my big brother, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you. And I don't care, I'm going to get you out of this. I'm going to save your ass for a change.

Brilliant!! I couldn't have asked for better!!!!!!!!!

I wondered how in the world the writers could satisfy fans after the devastating cliffhanger in All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 1. I was thrilled to find that they were more than capable of continuing the story of the Winchester brothers in a marvelous way. This episode once again calls into the raw emotions of Dean in a truly touching and brilliant performance by Jensen. It also provides a new look into what Sam feels in regards to the relationship between the two brothers (excellent acting from Jared as well. The many guest stars provided wonderful dynamics, and the episode is one that will doubtless be loved by many. It satisfies the need for closure of season 2 while keeping viewers hungry for season 3. I can't wait for more; in the mean time, I'll happily watch this episode over and over.
