Storyline

A month has passed by and Jeannie is still locked in the safe. However, that is the least of Tony's worries. Jeannie informs him that he is no longer her master due to the fact that she has been locked up for so long. Also, Dr. Bellows informs him that it is feared that the explosive device has been activated and that Dr. Wedemeyer, the safe's inventor, has been called in from Washington to try to deactivate it and open it. Tony then comes up with an elaborate scheme to try to keep Wedemeyer from opening the safe and becoming Jeannie's new master. Written by Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>

Goofs

At the end of the episode, when Tony finally figures out the combination to let Jeannie out of the safe, Larry Hagman apparently had to loop his lines. The combination was 497, and he keeps saying, "Four, nine, seven! Four, nine, seven!", added later in conjunction with a viewer contest noted in #3.16. See more »

Benny Rubin and Ron Masak

"Genie, Genie, Who's Got the Genie?" concludes the four week odyssey with Jeannie confiding that anyone who opens the NASA moon safe will automatically become her new master. Dr. Friedrich Wedemeyer (Benny Rubin) is assigned the combination, escorted from Washington by Major Healey, who must delay him while Tony disguises the safe as an ice cream cart (Ron Masak plays vendor Joe). Dr. Bellows delivers the shocking news that the safe is set to explode at 1:00 unless Wedemeyer can disarm it. By the time he reaches the Nelson home his hands are too nervous to accomplish their task, so Tony himself does the actual work (the faster it ticks the better). There were several two part episodes but only this single four parter, which must have been successful in delivering the ratings midway through the third season.
