Sam and Dean follow the trail of an Anti-Claus when victims are apparently pulled up the chimney never to be seen again. After a lead goes nowhere, the Winchesters learn the Anti-Claus in in fact a pair of old pagan gods who have assimilated into society and have found a new way of getting their yearly sacrifices. A flashback to Christmas Eve 1991 reveals how Sam found out for the first time what their father really did and where Dean got his gold amulet.
Did You Know?
During the filming of this episode, Jared Padalecki, who had been having some personal issues, had a really bad panic attack. The doctor suggested that he may have been clinically depressed. While Jared seems to have overcome this or at least manage it well, it was still a factor for him when he ran his "Always Keep Fighting" campaign in early 2015, selling shirts with Sam Winchester's portrait and the slogan to benefit the charity 'To Write Love On Her Arms'. This is a charity that raises awareness and provides aid to people suffering from Depression and related illnesses. See more
During the pagan ritual, Sam was cut on his right arm, but at the end of the episode the bandage is on his left arm. See more
Why would someone be using that as Christmas wreaths?
You know, it's not as crazy as it sounds, Dean. I mean, pretty much every Christmas tradition *is* Pagan.
Christmas is Jesus's birthday.
No, Jesus's birthday was probably in the fall. It was actually the winter solstice festival that was co-opted by the church and renamed Christmas. But I mean the yule log, the tree, even Santa's red suit is all remnants of Pagan worship.
How do you know that? What are you going to tell me ...
