Tohru's Grandfather has news. His house renovations are done and she can come back home. It's proper that she does, but she's reluctant. She doesn't want to leave the Sohma house - and neither do the guys want her to go - but none give voice to what they feel, so the only thing left to do is say farewell.

When Tohru is talking to her Grandfather in the hallway about being grateful for everything she has, but wishing she could live with the Sohma's again, in a panning body shot you can see she is not wearing any footwear, only long blue socks. But as she is talking she begins to cry - and in a shot of her tears hitting the floor, she is now wearing pink slippers. Then moments later when Kyo and Yuki burst in to collect Tohru and take her back, she is now wearing brown shoes. See more
After all, I suppose burnt beef stew will be just as satisfying as burnt miso soup or burnt rice or burnt eggs, or any of the fine burnt dishes Yuki used to make for us before Tohru fell into our lives. Ah yes, we all seemed to do quite well on our charcoal-rich diet.
