Hard Luck Idol
20 November 2018 | by JordanThomasHallSee all my reviews

Mr. Beasley, the Mailman (Lucien Littlefield) delivers a package to Dagwood that he says has given him bad luck since picking up. An accompanying letter from Dagwood's Uncle Harry in India explains that he is sending the family an ancient statue of the East Indian god of bad luck that contains a curse. Uncle Harry dismisses it as superstition but Dagwood believes it. Quickly, Dagwood hurts his toe and Blondie falls. Other bad things begin to happen. Mr. Dithers has a collection of East Indian idols and desires it, even after Dagwood explains the bad luck that seems to be attached to it. Now bad luck follows Mr. Dithers after Dagwood gives the idol to him. An accident leads to Cora Dithers walking in and seeing her husband with his arms wrapped around his secretary Eloise (Pamela Duncan). To save her job Mr. Dithers gives the idol to his wife. After her own bad luck she gifts it to Blondie. Cookie goes to throw it away for them but Herb eyes it and thinking it is valuable gives her $5 for it. Naturally bad luck begins following him. With everyone under bad luck Dagwood conspires to be rid of the idol.

This episode is titled "Hard Luck Idol" on the complete series DVD release. Weak offering.
