Trivia

A new bridging segment to add some closure to the first half of the story was shot in Tunisia on August 11, 1997 during production of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). As all the actors had signed a long term contract to include potential re-shoots, Joseph Bennett and Vic Tablian were available to reprise the roles of T.E. Lawrence and Demetrios. Doubles were substituted for Corey Carrier, Margaret Tyzack and Tony Robinson. The double for Carrier gets to speak a line in his own voice. See more »

Quotes

Henry 'Indiana' Jones, Jr.: [narrating] I was born July first, 1899. I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I guess my parents were pretty pleased to see me. They decided to name me after my father. So, I'm Henry Walton Jones, Junior. I grew up in Princeton, New Jersey at an exciting time, the very beginning of the twentieth century. I started to walk at a pretty early age. Eveyone in the house got pretty excited about it

Indy's Very Educational Beginning
13 October 2018 | by Hollywood_YodaSee all my reviews

This made for television movie is actually an edit of the Young Indiana Jones series. George Lucas decided that the series would be more marketable if it were edited into a serial movie series, to be a bookend to the feature films. The idea worked, at least to the fan base of the Indiana Jones films. And in actuality, it worked to a level that a 4th feature film was made, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

In this first film, Indy goes on his first adventures to Egypt in 1908, with his mother and father. They meet several famous people, including Lawrence of Arabia. Indy learns early about other cultures and norms of the time, even slavery. He also learns what a true archaeologist does, instead of robbing the dead, but rather preserve the past.

If you are a history buff, or a history teacher, these films and the dvd counterparts have great material and documentaries to aid the education of young minds.
