The opening scene in the movie is quite symbolic - all people are carrying umbrellas in the rain except the zombie girl. "Umbrella" is also the name of the corporation who is responsible for the creation and spread of the T-Virus, on which the main plot of the Resident Evil series is based. See more »
(at around 22 mins) At the beginning of the movie when Alice lands in Alaska, she walks over to the beach, places her camera on a log, and sits down in front of it. Initially, the camera is angled at a lower position and could not possibly be recording her face. As she continues with her filmed monologue, the camera changes angles and is positioned toward her upper body as it should have been to begin with. See more »
My name is Alice. I worked for the Umbrella Corporation in a secret laboratory developing experimental viral weaponry. There was an incident. A virus escaped. Everybody died. Trouble was, they didn't stay dead. This was the start of an apocalypse that would sweep the entire world. The men responsible for this disaster took refuge underground and continued to experiment with the deadly T-Virus. They felt secure in their high-tech fortress. But they were wrong.

Due to German regulations and FSK attitude towards violence, a second version was created during post production to secure a more commercial "Not under 16" rating. This version removes or reduces some of the more violent scenes and gore effects (less blood splatter etc.). It was also used in Austria and the German-speaking regions of Switzerland. However, the DVD/Blu-ray release features the uncut version and is rated "Not under 16" as well. Since the FSK guidelines for home media are stricter than for theatrical releases, the cut theatrical version is thus rendered totally unnecessary. See more »
I have never written a review for a movie on IMDb. But i feel like people should know the truth about this movie. I always go to IMDb.com and search for the ratings and review before watching a movie. Tickets are expensive so always try to find different ways to save money. For this movie i read reviews on IMDb with 8.7/10 rating i was very calm that the movie will be a blast.
I went to the theatre and started watching it and boy o boy. This movie is by far the worst resident evil i have encountered. Horrible fight sequences, ridiculous story. This movie did not do a justification to resident evil franchise. How in the world with one injection you take all the powers ?. There are so many other flaws. This was the first movie where i started yawning and felt sleepy.
Overall if you have time to waste money then go for it.
