Trivia

The Stand By Me segment makes reference to the real-life fates of two cast members. We are told that Cleve, the fat kid, grew up to marry Rebecca Romijn, just as Jerry O'Connell did. We are also told that Quag died of a drug overdose outside the Viper Room, a reference to the real-life death of River Phoenix. See more »

Goofs

In the Shawshank Redemption segment when Andy (Peter) is escaping, he sees the Warden through the grill watching television. The TV has an antenna, but in the next shot the antenna is gone. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Peter Griffin: Hi, it's me, Peter, your TV cartoon pal. You know, Lois has been bitching lately that I watch too much TV and don't read enough books. So I went to the library and picked up three books by the greatest author of the last thousand years, Stephen King. And tonight, I'd like to share them with you. We begin with a little tale called "Stand By Me", about four young boys who went looking for a dead body, and instead found... themselves... and also a dead body.

Three Kings, 1/3 funny
12 May 2009 | by joshzancanSee all my reviews

Three Kings is divided into three parts, spoofing three movies based on Stephen King books--Stand By Me, Misery, and The Shawshank Redemption. The first two weren't funny, they just generalized the plot with Family Guy characters. There was nothing that made it even remotely like a Family Guy episode. The Stand By Me segment just kept emphasizing the differences between the fifties and now, and Misery had just a couple humorous lines, relying on the fact that they are parodying King to keep the viewer interested. The last segment, however, The Shawshank Redemption, was hysterical. It utilized all of the standard Family Guy traits and infused them into the Shawshank storyline.
