Composer Jake Monaco’s musical fingerprints can be found on some of the biggest film scores of the past decade. As a producer and composer of additional music for Christophe Beck, Monaco has contributed to the animated magic of Frozen, the record-breaking laughs of The Hangover trilogy, the furry hijinks of The Muppets, and the real-life drama of Waiting for Superman.
As a versatile composer in his own right, Monaco has scored projects spanning murder mystery (Out to Kill), romantic drama (Kilimanjaro) and classroom comedy (Struck by Lightning). He also co-composed the music for President Obama’s re-election film, The Road We’ve Traveled, narrated by Tom Hanks.
Based on Chris Gall’s award-winning book series, Dinotrux follows “the adventures of two unlikely best friends as they navigate the mechanical domain ruled by creatures including Tyrannosaurus Trux, Scraptors and Tow-a-constrictors.” It’s set to feature hybrid dinosaur-construction characters who will work to build with and battle one another for three seasons.
Dinotrux is just the latest show that’s part of Netflix’s huge deal with DreamWorks Animation for 300 hours of original programming inspired by characters from the studio’s most successful properties. DreamWorks’ Turbo Fast launched last year on the streaming service, and future collaborations between Netflix and the animation studio
