Blur Studio’s The Goon movie officially in development at Fox

A couple of years ago, Deadpool director Tim Miller teased that an announcement on Blur Studio’s long-planned animated adaptation of Eric Powell’s comic book series The Goon would be coming “soon”, and now we have that update, with the VFX company revealing that the project is now officially in development at 20th Century Fox with The Chernin Group.

Posting on the project’s Kickstarter page, which was used to fund an animatic test reel featuring the voices of Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti, Blur shared the following update:

With your generous contributions, we were able to finish a full storyboard animatic of the film, complete with amazing voice acting, sound design, and music. This template for the film sold the producers and studio on the potential of The Goon and we’re beginning a new round of development.

So, what exactly does “development” mean? Well, it doesn’t

Well, that Kickstarted recently gave the exciting update that The Goon is officially back in production at Blur Studios and 20th Century Fox, which as you know, is now Disney owned. Deadpool director Tim Miller is a producer on the project as is David Fincher. Here’s the announcement:

Marvel Reveals Acts of Evil

Gavin Jasper May 20, 2019

Marvel presses the randomize button to give us some fresh hero vs. villain matches.

Marvel is at a spot right now where they’re just kind of rehashing old event stories with a new coat of paint. Considering how much money they made altering the story of Infinity Gauntlet into two feature films, I don’t know if I can blame them. In the past few years, they did new takes on Secret Wars, Civil War, and even Amalgam. Next up is dusting off Acts of Vengeance and rebranding it as Acts of Evil.

Acts of Vengeance was an event from the early '90s with a simple and incredibly fun concept: a bunch of villains got together and decided to trade targets in order to hit the heroes off-guard. Spider-Man fights Graviton, Punisher fights Dr. Doom, Thor fights Juggernaut, etc. It was mainly remembered for Spider-Man

‘Pokemon: Detective Pikachu’ Review – Second Opinion

Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Bill Nighy, Ken Watanabe, Chris Geere, Suki Waterhouse, Josette Simon, Alejandro De Mesa, Rita Ora, Karan Soni | Written by Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, Rob Letterman, Derek Connolly | Directed by Rob Letterman

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is directed by Rob Letterman and stars Justice Smith as Tim Goodman with the addition of the voice of Ryan Reynolds as the titular Pokémon character Pikachu, who collide together after Tim is brought back into Ryme City after his Police Office father has been killed in a suspicious car accident, resulting in a partnership to get to the bottom of this mystery case. Letterman’s film is sadly eye gouging traumatic for an hour and forty minutes that feels more like torture than family entertainment. The resulting film has to be the most generic property going at the moment. The voice of Reynolds does very little and the film has no heart,

Why Disney’s Deal for Full Hulu Ownership Is a ‘Smart’ Move — for Both Disney and Comcast

  • The Wrap
Now that Disney has inked a major deal with Comcast to take full operational control of the Hulu streaming service, analysts see upsides for both companies.

“Comcast can smoothly transition to its own streaming service, while retaining the upside in Hulu for the next five years,” Brian Frons, longtime president of ABC Daytime and current UCLA professor, told TheWrap, calling the deal a “smart” move for both sides. “Disney takes control of Hulu now, which allows them to have a unified execution of their digital vision without having to write another acquisition check this year.”

The deal, called a “put/call” agreement, effectively gives Disney the 33% stake in Hulu now owned by Comcast in a transaction that values the streamer at $27.5 billion. As early as January 2024, Comcast can require Disney to buy NBCUniversal’s interest in Hulu and Disney can require NBCUniversal to sell that interest to Disney for its

Hugh Jackman Says Playing Wolverine’s Been The Role Of A Lifetime

Yesterday – May 13th – was the first ever X-Men Day, a day for X-fans to share what they most love about the Children of the Atom as well as a clever marketing plot for Fox (or Disney) to ramp up the promotion for next month’s Dark Phoenix. Impressively, they managed to bring together stars past and present from the franchise, including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Shawn Ashmore and others, to record some featurettes reflecting on the movies.

Hugh Jackman didn’t take part in these, but the man most known as Wolverine did take time out of his Monday to celebrate X-Men Day by sharing an image of his iconic character on Twitter. The Australian actor posted it with the caption: “Role of a lifetime.”

Disney Gains Full Control Of Hulu In Deal With Comcast, Cementing Streaming Strategy – Update
Updated with Bob Iger statement. Disney and Comcast announced today that Disney will assume full operational control of Hulu, effective immediately.

In return, Disney and Comcast entered into a “put/call” agree regarding NBCUniversal’s 33% ownership interest in Hulu. The deal puts a minimum future valuation on Hulu of $27.5 billion.

Reporters gathered in New York for the Disney upfront press conference were startled by the news, announced verbally by a Disney rep as the event was beginning and the press release was hitting the wire. At the same time, it had also been widely expected given Disney’s strategic push into streaming and its description of Hulu as one of “three legs of the stool” along with Disney+ and ESPN+. Disney+ is set to launch in November, with a $7 price point that has immediately made it a noteworthy attempt to slow the momentum of Netflix.

“Hulu represents the best of television,
