Morbius: The Living Vampire Adds Mad Men Star Jared Harris

Morbius: The Living Vampire Adds Mad Men Star Jared Harris
Jared Harris has joined the cast of Sony's Morbius the Living Vampire Marvel Comics adaptation. For the last couple of years, the studio has been looking at the wealth of Spider-Man characters they have the rights to and doing what they can to create a little cinematic universe centered on these characters, without actually using Spider-Man, who is over hanging out with The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This one has been in the works for a little while now but the success of Venom helped make it a priority for the studio. Jared Leto has been cast in the lead role and they're now filling out the supporting cast ahead of filming.

According to a new report, Jared Harris has signed on to play an as-of-yet undisclosed role in Morbius. He is the latest to join following former Doctor Who star Matt Smith. For the time being,

Elijah Wood movies: 12 greatest films, ranked worst to best, include ‘Lord of the Rings,’ ‘Eternal Sunshine,’ ‘The Ice Storm’
To many, he will always be Frodo Baggins, the brave little furry-footed hobbit who volunteers to bear the burden of carrying the dreaded One Ring as he leaves his bucolic existence behind while sacrificing himself to save Middle-earth in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

But Elijah Wood, who turns 38 on January 28, has had quite a varied career beyond the Shire ever since he made his film debut at 8-years-old with a small part as Video Game Boy #2 in 1989’s “Back to the Future Part II.” He would go on to land the coveted central role in the epic fantasy franchise based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s enduring classic when he was 18. But his early output on the big screen consisted of a string of so-so ‘90s titles such as “Radio Flyer,” “Paradise” and “Forever Young.” However, he often earned praise for his part in even mediocre projects.

Matt Smith in Discussions to Join Jared Leto in Spider-Man Spinoff Movie Morbius

  • DailyDead
Out of all of the superheroes in the Marvel Comics universe, Spider-Man's lineup of villains is perhaps the most eclectic, intriguing, and horrifying. Morbius the Living Vampire is certainly no exception, and with Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse enjoying big box office runs, it's no surprise that Sony is looking to expand their own "Spider-Verse" with a movie based on Morbius, with Jared Leto in the lead role and Matt Smith now potentially joining the film's cast.

Variety reports that Matt Smith (perhaps best known for playing the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who) is "in final talks" to play a yet-to-be-revealed "major role" in the Morbius movie.

Last June, multiple sources, including Variety, previously reported that Jared Leto will play the titular character in a Morbius movie directed by Daniel Espinosa. Leto has reportedly been interested in bringing the character to life on screen for a while, but wanted

Brad Fuller explains why Paramount shut down last year’s Friday the 13th

After several years stuck in development hell, Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes came close to finally getting another chapter of the Friday the 13th saga into production early in 2017, only for the studio to pull the plug on the project a couple of months before filming.

During an interview with Syfy Wire, Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes has explained why Paramount made the decision to shut down the film, which would have been directed by Breck Eisner (The Last Witch Hunter) directing from a script by Prisoners scribe Aaron Guzikowski.

“I think there was concern about the rights looming at that point,” said Fuller. “Paramount was concerned if they made that movie and the rights were not available… if you are going to make that movie, you want to be able to ride it for more than one or two movies. That didn’t exist in this rights structure.
