The Charleston-Mattoon, Illinois tornado of 26 May 1917 was claimed as the longest tornado path at 293 miles (472 kilometres), however, it was not a single tornado rather a series of tornadoes produced by the same thunderstorm. The longest known continuous tornado path is from the Tri-State Tornado of 18 March 1925 which covered around 219 mi (352 km). See more
