While Gru, the ex-supervillain is adjusting to family life and an attempted honest living in the jam business, a secret Arctic laboratory is stolen. The Anti-Villain League decides it needs an insider's help and recruits Gru in the investigation. Together with the eccentric AVL agent, Lucy Wilde, Gru concludes that his prime suspect is the presumed dead supervillain, El Macho, whose his teenage son is also making the moves on his eldest daughter, Margo. In Despicable Me 2 (2013), Gru (Steve Carell) is a single dad with three orphaned daughters, one of whom - Margo - is 'dating' a young boy, which Gru is trying to prevent from dating. In a previous film, Dan in Real Life (2007), Dan (Steve Carell) also plays a single (widowed) dad with three daughters, one of whom - Cara - is also 'dating' a young boy, which Dan is trying to prevent from dating. Interestingly, both of the young boys are Spanish-speaking. See more »
At the start of the film, when the secret lab is stolen from the Arctic, the footage is being viewed in AVL headquarters. The information on their screen includes latitude and longitude co-ordinates.

So Despicable Me 2 is a very family funny/friendly animated comedy which at points really does make you laugh! If you are reading this now and haven't yet seen the trailer, I would recommend you don't watch the trailer and just go straight to the film, Some of the best parts are shown in the trailer. To watch this film you don't really need to have seen the first however I would recommend you do as at points the film refers to Despicable Me (1).
I'm going to keep this review short and simply say, I gave this film a 9* rating as I found it strongly entertaining, not as funny as I thought but still a great film! The story line was also very easy to follow and keeps you engaged throughout.
Would recommend this film to anyone! I would say most people will enjoy this film, find it entertaining and recommend it to there friends!
This film is perfect for any family to view!
