Nathan is approached by the tattooed, denim-clad Jamie, who claims to be his half-brother, conceived out of wedlock. He has recently found out and, to punish their no-good father Mike, has him tied up in the boot of his car. After the boys retrieve the car which gets stolen and rescue their dad, Jamie and the misfits go to a club where pill-popping seems to reverse their powers and Curtis has a vision of a girl falling from a high roof. The mysterious hoodie reappears and Simon trails him to a flat block but when he and the others break in they find the girl who featured in Curtis's vision. Jamie has sex in a car with a girl whose super power is to turn things to ice but as a result of the reversal she causes herself and Jamie to combust. Nathan learns that his brother is dead. He can, however, still see him as if he were alive due to the change in his power. Written by don @ minifie-1

Great Nathan-centric episode
11 February 2018 | by jbenckerSee all my reviews

In this Nathan-centric episode we see Nathan much more serious and emotional than we are used to. Sure, Nathan had a few serious moments before, but it was never like this: Nathan is basically in emotional crisis throughout the whole episode. This enables Robert Sheehan to show that he can play more than just the funny guy. He does a great job showing Nathan's emotional, vulnerable side but at the same time maintaining his usual outrageously funny personality.

Nathan meets Jaimes, his previously unknown little halfbrother, with whom he shares his father and has now to deal with having a brother he never met before as well as his deadbeat father who has been a bad father to both brothers. Nathan's dysfunctional relationship with his father has been teased in season 1 and is now being elaborated on.

It seems that the writers are very conscious that a character like Nathan can easily be reduced to comic relief. Fleshing his character out is exactly the right way to avert this and makes for character-driven, but also entertaining and funny episode which has a few suprises in store, as well.
