Storyline

Whilst investigating the death of a pregnant girl who was pushed off a ferry, Wallander discovers a ten-year old skeleton in the garden of the house where he lives with girl-friend Vanja. Elderly neighbour Fredrik points him towards the house's previous occupant, violent pimp Jan Petrus, whose daughter Ellika went missing a decade earlier. However, after the pregnant girl has been identified by a friend who is also killed, Ellika contacts Wallander and gives him vital information to help identify the skeleton and her murderer. A confrontation with the killer also solves the more recent double slayings. Written by don @ minifie-1

Goofs

Names of the both young Polish girls (the one killed on the ferry and her prostitute friend), aren't Polish at all. "Snezna Botez" is completely nonsense (despite there is a Polish word "sniezna", but it's not human first name, it means "snowy"). Only surname of the other one - "Nowak" - is common in the Slavic countries like Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and others. See more »

Dark, Gripping, compulsive.

An Event in Autumn is one powerful episode, plenty of changes, including new cast members, a smarter looking Kenneth Branagh, and Magnus has moved on, but the usual dark and gloomy tale. The initial sunshine for Wallander in the form of Vanja (Saskia Reeves) doesn't last long, and all the better for it, where would we be with a smiling, carefree Kurt. The storyline is great one, very dark and bleak, some incredibly scenes, in particular the dog incident, which has to be one of the darkest, most shocking moments on the show. Excellent performances, the regulars are great as always, Donald Sumpter is brilliant, but the show was owned by Con O'Neill, who was just incredible, he really does manage to get under your skin.

One of the best episodes of the show, if I had a criticism it would be they used some awful scenery, Sweden normally looks (and is!) a glorious country, they certainly didn't make it so here.
