Anachronisms 

The action takes place in 1882. Shortly after the ship is destroyed one of the crew says they have lost their reserves of penicillin. Penicillin was discovered in 1928.

The basis of the history is in czarist Russia, and there are plenty of Russian letters and words on shops, et al. but the name of the ship is written in latin letters "DAVAI", even though a Russian ship would have the name in Cyrillic.

The dog is called Schackle, probably honoring the great explorer, Ernest Schackleton, however in 1882, Schackleton was only 8 years old, not a very renowned adventurer yet.

The story is set in the early 1880s, yet when the heroine is unconscious a young crew member performs modern CPR on her, using chest compression and mouth-to-mouth breathing techniques that were developed in the late 1950s and 1960s.

Character error 

The skipper aboard "Norge" is called "Lund" and his brother is called "Larson". Lund and Larson are both family names, but they seem to be used here as first names.

Continuity 

When Sacha first finds her grandfather's logbook the cover says "A Sacha Tchernetsov", but later it says "Pour Sacha Tchernetsov".

Factual errors 

The mouth to mouth method wasn't invented before mid-1950s, some seventy years after the story in the film happens.
