The whole thing can be hard to follow, but the energy (and pulchritude) of the cast make it a perfectly fine bit of popcorn escapism.
That said, this deliciously nutty love story - sample dialogue: "Let me eat this heart, then we can pick azaleas together" - is blindingly gorgeous to look at and exceptionally well acted, at least by the women.
An outlandish fantasy that surrenders to overheated melodrama, but nonetheless titillates the eyes like a grand feast.
A vaporous, watered-down frappe of a fantasy epic.
