The series focused on various murders in the fictional suburban English town of Middleford. The crimes are solved by two female police detectives, Inspector Kate Ashurst and Sergeant Emma Scribbins, aka "Ash and Scribbs".
A British inspector is transferred to Saint-Marie's police department, but he hates the sun, sea and sand. The series follow his investigations into murders on the island. Later series see another British DI head the investigative team.
Charlie and Nicola Buchanan (Shaun Micallef and Kat Stewart) are crime scene cleaners. As they go about their work, they collect evidence and clues the police may have missed. Every now and then, they get carried away with helping solve the mysteries the police have trouble closing.Written by
Excellent Australian (quirky) Comedy-Detective Show.....Refreshingly different
I really enjoy this show and give it 8.5/10. It's just not predictable, well-acted, tight editing & camera work and a great script.
To start with I had low expectations as the promo was lame and the leader actor "Shaun Micallef" I felt would never be able to hold together an hour show, as I had seen him prior as a comedy compare. As it happens the series was written by Shaun & Jason Stephens and they have done a great job well at least until episode 4 "Atlas Drugged" which is when I typed this.
To put it simply this is a truly original spin on the murder-cop show genre in which the plot whilst still clever is really a simple elevator to the clever & subtle humour, derived from delightfully timed lines and fresh comedy writing. Watch it, this is a good show and there are so few on free to air!!
