Exclusive Interview – Composer Christian Wibe talks WWE Studios’ The Marine 6: Close Quarters and Netflix’s What Happened to Monday

Composer Christian Wibe has lent his musical expertise to projects such as Dead Snow, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead and Hellfjord to name a few. More recently he scored Netflix’s dystopian thriller set in the not-so-distant future, What Happened to Monday starring Noomi Rapace, Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe. The film follows a set of identical septuplets whom must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own, as families are limited to one child due to overpopulation. His distinctive electronic score for the project was a standout one for viewers/critics and what caused the filmmakers of The Marine 6: Close Quarters to reach out to him about scoring their film. Eight more weekend film premieres for UK’s Horror Channel

Following this past weekend’s channel debuts of Cockneys vs Zombies, Horror Express and Antiviral, the UK’s very own Horror Channel will be screening Eight more weekend film premieres this month, including the UK TV premieres of Tommy Wirkola’s crowd-pleasing, carnage-driven Dead Snow 2: Red or Dead, Jon Knautz’s demonic gem The Shrine, Tyler Shields’s stylish mash-up of Scream and La Femme Nikita, Final Girl, and Ben Kital’s underground possession thriller Beneath.

There are also network premieres Wes Craven’s demented classic The Hills Have Eyes, Leigh Janiak’s acclaimed Honeymoon starring Harry Treadaway and Rose Leslie, John Grissmer’s gloriously gruesome slice of ‘80s slasher, Blood Rage, and Steve Miner’s hilarious cult favourite House.

Second Wave of Fantastic Fest 2014 Films + Closing Night Film

We are three weeks away until Fantastic Fest. Kind of amazing to think about. This year, I am blessed to bring Mike Hassler with me. We will be seeing as many films as our eyeballs will see and writing as many reviews as our fingers will allow us. Fantastic Fest: Second wave of film lineup announced

The lineup for the second wave of films at 2014′s 10th Annual Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas has arrived, and with it a potential Oscar contender, Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler. The film, a pulpy crime film about an embedded journalist (Jake Gyllenhaal), will make its U.S. premiere at the festival with Director and Writer Gilroy in attendance.

Fantastic Fest has also released a lineup that includes John Wick, an action/thriller starring Keanu Reeves (Reeves will be in attendance), Takashi Miike’s latest Over Your Dead Body and the Studio Ghibli film The Tale of Princess Kaguya. This announcement comes on the heels of the first wave of films, including Sundance horror film The Babadook.

‘Nightcrawler’ To Close Fantastic Fest 2014; ‘John Wick’ Joins Lineup
Open Road’s Jake Gyllenhaal starrer Nightcrawler will close the 10th annual Fantastic Fest in its U.S. premiere and Keanu Reeves will drop by for a gala screening of Lionsgate’s John Wick, organizers announced today. The rising genre film fest held September 18-25 in Austin, TX will open with the previously announced Tusk from Kevin Smith.

Also unveiled today along with a second wave of programming is a centerpiece bout in the Fantastic Debates, in which filmmakers, critics, and celebs engage in discourse at a podium before taking it to the boxing ring to determine the ultimate winner. This year, BitTorrent’s Chief Content Officer Matt Mason will take on a challenger to duke it out over whether the file sharing platform is a valuable tool or an enabler of piracy.

When Sundance announced the films in competition for the 2014 festival yesterday, its organizers noted that they were impressed by the caliber of cinematic artistry — mostly due to technology — that freed up filmmakers to experiment with different genres. No category of the festival is more rooted in genre than Park City at Midnight, the late-night section that specializes in horror and the supernatural, and this year’s slate has several potential breakouts. “The Midnight lineup came together in a way that is about the strongest group we’ve ever had, top to bottom,” says Trevor Groth, Sundance’s director of programming.
