Three-Year-Old DJ Arch Jnr Booked To Play Back To The Old Skool

Seriously, we couldn’t make this up if we tried. There is a three-year-old electronic music artist that goes by DJ Arch Jnr, and he has literally been booked for an event called Back To The Old Skool.

DJ Arch Jnr became a viral sensation of sorts after being awarded $35,000 for being declared the winner of South Africa’s Got Talent back in November. While many wrote him off as a passing gimmick, he now shows promise as a full-fledged electronic music act – despite being a toddler, he will share the stage with the likes of Black Coffee, Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez and David Morales.

While it’s so unlikely that a three-year-old could even count beats that his tracks are undoubtedly synced, the lack of overhead footage from his television debut makes it difficult to determine whether or not he’s doing any actual mixing. Nonetheless, DJ Arch Jnr

Gigi Hadid Makes Directorial Debut With Joe Jonas and Dnce's New ''Cake by the Ocean'' Music Video
There's a lot of exciting things happening this fine Friday thanks to Dnce's new music video for "Cake by the Ocean." Not only is this Joe Jonas' first music video with his new band, but it also marks Gigi Hadid's directorial debut! "She's always had a high creative eye so she came up with concept and we rolled with it," Jonas told Entertainment Weekly of his girlfriend, who co-directed the vid with The Black Coffee. "She was a good boss." The video is a very literal take on the track as it features a massive Victoria sponge cake—you guessed it—right on the beach. The DJ Awards Reminds Us That People In Ibiza Like Better Music Than We Do

The DJ Awards in Ibiza just celebrated its 18th edition, and even though DJ Mag holds down the fort when it comes to rankings of all things Edm, fans of dance music’s more sophisticated side might rejoice in some of the former awards ceremony’s selections.

That said, before you tear apart this claim in the comments section (I know you were going to), bear in mind that Hardwell does have not one, but two entries on this list – namely in the International DJ and Progressive House/Electro categories. Oh, and there’s an “Electronica” category, because apparently we’re still in the year 2000.

Aside from that, though, respectable outfits like Carl Cox, Hot Since 82, Luciano, and Solomun grace the other entries, and the “Special Awards” heading features an interesting collection of innovators and organizations behind the curtain.

Take a look at all the entries for the DJ Awards

Readers recommend: songs about safety … and danger | Peter Kimpton

Hot spillages to electrifying risks, broken glass to scary stunts, name your songs that include details of physical danger and ways to stay away from harm

When the Mother Superior sang Climb Every Mountain, as a dreamy call to action to a despondent nun Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music, did she not consider that ropes, crampons, warm/waterproof clothing and a whistle to attract attention might be required? And when the Supremes released Up the Ladder to the Roof, and decades later, Lorde’s Ladder Song climbed up the charts, did none of them think to ask a friend to stand and hold the base during use, and that the model, whether wooden or aluminium, of step or folding variety, should comply with Hse standards INDG455?

Squeeze drank Black Coffee in Bed, but that careless bunch should definitely have been aware of the risk of spillage and scalding,

Toronto’s Nest Nightclub Makes Its Grand Debut With Danny Tenaglia

Toronto’s latest dance music destination, Nest, held its grand opening celebration this past long weekend. The three-day event welcomed international DJ Black Coffee on May 15th, and Fehrplay on May 16th. We checked out the finale of the events, which saw dance legend Danny Tenaglia play for a 16-hour marathon set.

A reincarnation of the former Ryze Nightclub, the now two-storey club is the project of Vito Tomasicchio and Phillip Anthony Pulitano in conjunction with Ryze’s team. For those who are unaware, Tomasicchio and Pulitano are two of the founders of The Bpm Festival and have been working in the music industry for decades.

The club is still undergoing some renovations, but was polished enough for the opening weekend. Adorned with a giant Nest sign on the streets of Little Italy, it’s hard to miss. In comparison to its predecessor, Nest’s features double the dance space on the top floor alone.

Black Coffee Review

Robert (Darrin Dewitt Henson) is a nice, thoughtful painter, who is regrettably fired from his job by longtime friend and boss Nate (Josh Ventura). The reason for Robert’s firing is initially unclear, though we later learn that it is because Nate has been sleeping with Robert’s girlfriend, Mita (Erica Hubbard). You’d expect this to be an unbearably fraught reveal, but it is more or less handled with playful civility. In fact, not a single conflict in Black Coffee is played above mild annoyance. That should have been the first warning sign that this isn’t a particularly interesting movie.

Robert’s same-day dumping and firing is mended by the comforting words of his cousin Julian (Christian Keyes). Julian is a wisecracking coffee impresario who has quickly turned his fortune around by living a simple mantra: black people should be entrepreneurs and not employees. Julian is convinced that
