New ‘Mortal Kombat’ Movie to Hit Theaters in 2021
Warner Bros. has dated its new “Mortal Kombat” movie for March 5, 2021, with James Wan producing and Simon McQuoid directing.

Mortal Kombat” will do battle on its opening date with Sony Pictures’ fantasy adventure “Masters of the Universe,” which Noah Centineo will lead as the Most Powerful Man in the Universe.

Pre-production on “Mortal Kombat” will start this month with cameras scheduled to start rolling in Adelaide, Australia, later this year. South Australia Premier Steven Marshall announced on May 13 that it will be the biggest film production in the state’s history.

Midway debuted the video game in 1992 with a story focusing on the monk Liu Kang working to save Earth from an evil sorcerer. The development of the first game was originally based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but then evolved into a horror-fantasy fighting game.

While the demonic nun version of Valak may be the first thing many horror fans think of when The Conjuring 2 comes to mind (especially after The Nun was released in 2018 and Neca unveiled their figure of the titular character), the Crooked Man is no doubt the source of plenty of nightmare fuel as well, and Neca is bringing the haunting entity to life in a new Ultimate figure that's featured in eerie photos ahead of its release this September.

Where Does ‘The Curse of La Llorona’ Fit Within The Conjuring Universe?

Directed by James Wan, The Conjuring was released in 2013. The film was a smash success and, because of its popularity, it produced not just a sequel, but its own cinematic universe. The story expanded outside of Lorraine and Ed Warren with films about eerie doll Annabelle, whom is briefly seen in The Conjuring, and the terrifying Nun from The Conjuring 2. Now comes a brand new entry – The Curse of La Llorona.

Whilst not featuring any supernatural presence that we’ve already seen in other Conjuring universe movies, The Curse of La Llorona clearly slots into the world. Annabelle‘s priest, Father Perez, makes a fleeting appearance to offer help to desperate mother Anna (Linda Cardellini) whose children are being hunted by La Llorona Aka The Weeping Woman. With so many films all interconnecting, and with the universe having a fondness to jumping all across time, we thought we’d

The Conjuring Universe is a horror film franchise that includes the Conjuring series of films. The first ‘The Conjuring’ was released in 2013. Initially, the intention was to call this film ‘The Warren Files’ as it was based on the real-life stories of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The second film, ‘The Conjuring 2’, was released three years later, and this focused on the Enfield Poltergeist case. Both these films were directed by James Wan, who also co-wrote the second installment in the series. In 2016, Wan announced that there would be a third film in the series, but

The 1 Superstition That Continues to Make Its Way Into Every Conjuring Universe Movie
As it currently stands, there are five movies in the Conjuring universe, but three more are on the way. That's a lot of creepy sets, a lot of crucifixes, and a lot of fiddling with spiritual forces we as humans can barely grasp. As it turns out, though, there's a special superstition in place that at least seems to keep the demons and ghouls at bay. This past December, I was lucky enough to visit the Los Angeles set of the next slated film, Annabelle Comes Home, where I learned a pretty interesting fact about these movies: they always have the set blessed by an actual priest to ward off evil spirits.

During my visit, I was shepherded through the day by the production's charming unit publicist, James Ferrera. He's the one who told me about the fun fact. As it turns out, they didn't think to bless the set

The Conjuring” is based on a real reported haunting

The first film in the “Conjuring”-verse is mostly an actual, reported event, if you believe in that sort of thing. As demonstrated with photos during the end credits of the movie, the Perron family really did exist, and reported they were being attacked by some kind of entity. The Warrens did, in fact, investigate. Both Lorraine Warren and the Perron family signed off on the movie as well.

The Warrens really do have that museum of creepy things

We Have All Kinds of Juicy (and Unsettling) Hints About The Conjuring 3

At this rate, there are so many movies in The Conjuring's expanding universe, it's quickly becoming the Marvel franchise of the horror genre. 2018's The Nun was the fifth film under this umbrella, and there are more on the way. Next up, Annabelle Comes Home will haunt audiences in Summer 2019, and then there's a movie about the Crooked Man in the works as well. But perhaps the most highly anticipated addition on the horizon is The Conjuring 3, which will introduce the next chapter of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

In December 2018, I was lucky enough to visit the set of Annabelle Comes Home, where I learned all sorts of exciting tidbits about the third go-round with our favorite possessed doll. While I was there, I couldn't help but ask about The Conjuring 3, and I'm thrilled to tell you that I got a few juicy hints about what's to come.

The Nun Producer Confirms A Sequel Is In Development

Corin Hardy’s The Nun may not have been a hit with the critics, but as the highest grossing entry in the Conjuring Universe to date, it’s doubtful that the bosses at Warner Bros. were losing much sleep over a few bad reviews. In fact, the film’s global gross of $365.6 million has made it all too clear that a sequel is on the way.

While a follow-up to the 2018 horror flick has yet to be officially announced, producer Peter Safran recently told Entertainment Weekly that it’s expected to be the next feature written for the franchise.

“I think there is an inevitability to another Nun movie,” Safran said. “We have a really fun storyline for that teed up, so I think that that’s the next one that will be written.”

The demonic nun made her big screen debut in 2016’s The Conjuring 2. In a recently published interview with ComicBook.

Annabelle Comes Home Producer Gives Update On The Crooked Man Spinoff

The Conjuring Universe is set to expand further with its 2019 slate, starting with the release of The Curse of La Llorona next week, and continuing later in the year with Annabelle Comes Home. However, one project which has been in development for some time now is The Crooked Man, which doesn’t sound like it’s ready to go into production any time soon.

The character of the Crooked Man was first introduced in 2016’s The Conjuring 2, and was announced to have a spinoff in development back in 2017. During ComicBook.com’s visit to the set of Annabelle Comes Home, however, producer Peter Safran explained that this creepy figure eventually took a backseat to one of The Conjuring 2’s other breakout stars.

“There are a bunch of things that we’re exploring in [Annabelle Comes Home] that I just love. That I think are going to be great,

The Nun 2 Story Is Teed Up, Will Probably Be Next Conjuring Spin-Off
Get ready for some more spooky nun action, as The Nun 2 is happening. The Conjuring universe has been rather successful ever since it launched with the first James Wan-directed main entry in the series back in 2013. Warner Bros. has really made the most of it in the years since by not only crafting sequels, but spin-off movies and connecting them all in a shared cinematic universe. Now, we have word that the universe will expand with another sequel in the most recent of those spin-off franchises.

This comes from producer Peter Safran, who is currently starting to promote The Curse of La Llorona and Annabelle Comes Home, the next two entries in the franchise that are being released this year. 7 Horrifying Demons, Monsters, and Spirits You'll See in Annabelle Comes Home

If you ask me, the Annabelle doll is one of the most iconic (and terrifying) parts of The Conjuring's ever-expanding universe. The doll, which is based on a real-life Raggedy Ann, was first introduced in The Conjuring and has been scaring the sh*t out of us ever since. Her popularity grew so much that she was eventually given her own prequel series! And so, Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation joined the larger timeline. But now, in Annabelle Comes Home, we're slamming right back into the present with Ed and Lorraine Warren and their daughter, Judy (played by Haunting of Hill House's McKenna Grace).

In December 2018, I visited the Los Angeles set of the third Annabelle film, where I got all sorts of fun tidbits about the next chapter in the Warrens's universe. The horror flick takes us right back to where we last left the cursed doll. In fact,

James Wan Probably Won't Direct Another Movie in The Conjuring Universe

James Wan Probably Won't Direct Another Movie in The Conjuring Universe
One of the biggest franchises to hit horror since Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street has been James Wan's The Conjuring Universe. And today we have word via franchise producer Peter Safran that he doesn't think Wan will ever return behind the camera to direct another film set within the cinematic horror series. Specifically, Safran says this about James Wan.

"I don't think he will [direct another Conjuring movie]. That's just me. My instinct is that he won't. I think he left everything out on the field with The Conjuring 2. Just being by his side as he made that movie, I feel that he put everything that he'd learned up to that point into that film, from character development to scares to crafting sequences, just everything. I love the movie, and I think that he felt like he did it, he really showed people exactly what he wanted to show them.
