When Big Tone, boss of Banks of England haulage company dies, the business passes to his son Martin, who has never sat behind a lorry wheel in his life. He brings in a new advanced telemetric system and revised rosters to increase productivity but only succeeds in antagonizing his staff - transport manager Michelle and drivers Malachi and his son Glen, Wendy, Bob and Steven. Life is especially difficult for Malachi, whose wife Sue has left him for the younger Kyle and Malachi's attempts to win her back, dying his hair and using Botox, only make him look stupid. After a sympathetic Glen has taken his father to a club and pays for a prostitute Malachi fails to show up for work as he is tail-gating Kyle in his truck. The other drivers combine to stop him doing something he will regret but it is too late as he ends up on a statue in the middle of town, taking off all his clothes and announcing who he is. At least Sue is pleased when he only gets a fine, rather than a harsher sentence.
