At the end of Season 6, the vampires were able to day-walk as a result of infusion of Warlow's blood. When Warlow dies, the ability to day-walk dies with him and Eric bursts into flames while reading a book in Sweden out in the open sunlight. We are led to believe he meets the true death, since this is the method used at vamp camp for executing vampires. No explanation is ever given how he survived being in the open sun, bursting into flames, and is still walking the earth. See more
