The movie was a box office success and a sequel, along with a TV series, were talked about. However nothing ever got past the development phase.

Now, Orion is moving forward with Gretel and Hansel starring It's Sophia Lillis, Sammy Leakey, Alice Krige (Star Trek: First Contact), Jessica De Gouw (Arrow), and Charles Babalola (Black Mirror). ‘Fast Color’ Review: Indie Superhero Movie Takes on Race, Empowerment
Move over, Captain Marvel, there’s a new female superhero in town. Fast Color doesn’t have the budget, the FX bells-and-whistles or even the inclination to take on the Brie Larson McU blockbuster. But the tightly-focused origin story of Ruth, played with ferocity and feeling by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, is still one hell of a heroic odyssey.

The world is suffering from the parched effects of eight years of drought when Ruth, who’s been running away from the earth-quaking powers she never wanted, returns home to her remote family farm.

‘American Idol’ recap: Top 14 sing for America’s votes on Night 12 of Season 17 [Updating Live Blog]
Six weeks after the second season of “American Idol” hosted by Ryan Seacrest began on ABC, America finally gets a chance to vote as the Top 14 take to the stage on the April 14 episode. These finalists survived a grueling process that began with winning over the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — at a regional audition and getting a ticket to Hollywood.

A whopping 150 plus would-be winners made the trip to La La Land, before being cut to 40. That group then competed both individually and in groups before the judges decided on the Top 20. This score of artists were then asked to sing both solo and in duets with celebrities and convince the three judges that they deserved a place in the Top 14.

Movie Review – Fast Color (2018)

Fast Color, 2018.

Directed by Julia Hart.

Starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Denham, and David Strathairn.

Synopsis:

A woman is forced to go on the run when her superhuman abilities are discovered. Years after having abandoned her family, the only place she has left to hide is home.

It is movingly fitting that one of the only superhuman-based films centered on women focuses on the artistry of creation and the beauty that can come from such a thing (both in terms of nurturing offspring and vibrant digital effects) rather than apocalyptic destruction and its fallout from squaring off against the same tired cookie cutter villains played out on screen for decades now. This is made all the more impressive considering that the events take place in a dried up dustbowl devoid of rain and water, slowly but surely killing off the human race.

Fast Color (a collaborative project

The Video For Bts and Halsey's "Boy With Luv" Will Have You Saying "Oh My, My, My"

  • BuzzSugar
K-pop superstars Bts are continuing their quest for world domination, and they've called on Halsey to lend her vocals to their latest release, a Summer jam entitled "Boy With Luv." The infectious, upbeat track comes complete with an Americana-inspired video full of poppy pastels - and we're not just talking about the hair! The guys dance (and rap) their way past an old movie theater, a retro diner, and a very La La Land-esque outdoor setting, before hooking up with Halsey for the big dance number. The song itself won't fail to get your on your feet, and you'd better get used to hearing it, because we have a feeling this might be one of the songs of the Summer.

‘Teen Spirit’ Film Review: Elle Fanning Sings – Boy, Does She Sing – in Indie Musical

‘Teen Spirit’ Film Review: Elle Fanning Sings – Boy, Does She Sing – in Indie Musical
Teen Spirit,” which premiered at last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival, has a scene in which our mild-mannered heroine, an aspiring singer Violet, performs a song with such verve and power that everyone who knows her is left with mouths agape.

They’re all thinking exactly the same thing: “We didn’t know she had it in her.”

And “Teen Spirit” might also have that effect on its viewers — because while we’ve seen great things in the past from Elle Fanning, who plays Violet, we’ve never seen her sing and perform like this. Like the characters on screen, we didn’t know she had it in her.

Fanning’s performance is one of the most surprising things about “Teen Spirit,” a goodhearted and entertaining film about stardom in the “American Idol” era that also marks the directorial debut of Max Minghella. The actor is now following in

Grease Prequel Summer Loving Is Happening at Paramount

A Grease prequel is happening. Paramount Pictures has tapped screenwriter John August to pen the screenplay for the movie, titled Summer Loving, which will be based on the song Summer Nights from the original movie. This comes at a time when studios are desperate for franchises and name recognition, as it's becoming increasingly competitive in the marketplace. Any advantage a studio can attain, like attaching a movie to one of the most popular musicals of all time, for example, is one that they're not likely to ignore.

According to a new report, John August, who has notably collaborated with Tim Burton several times over the years, has been hired by the studio to pen Summer Loving. As it stands, details are somewhat scarce, but the prequel will reportedly tell the tale of the summer when Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson met, which was recounted memorably in the musical number Summer Nights in Grease.

  • Deadline
Joanna Kulig To Star In Damien Chazelle’s Netflix Series ‘The Eddy’
Cold War star Joanna Kulig is set as the female lead opposite Andre Holland in Oscar winner Damien Chazelle’s anticipated Netflix series The Eddy, from Endeavor Content.

The Eddy is a musical drama set in contemporary multicultural Paris revolving around a club, its owner (Holland), the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them. The eight-episode series will be shot in France and feature dialogue in French, English and Arabic for premiere exclusively to Netflix members worldwide.

Kulig plays Maja who sings like a bird but has a drinking problem. When she sings she’s the absolute center of attention, but otherwise, she’s adrift, at a crossroads where every direction looks like a dead end. She has an on-again-off-again relationship with Elliot (Holland) and his band, but her other options don’t look so great, either.

Holland’s Elliot Udo, was a celebrated jazz pianist in New York,

‘Anna and the Apocalypse’ & Other Movie Musicals With Bite

Musicals have been a long stay of cinemas pretty much since cinemas were a thing. The genre had its heyday during the twenties through fifties, but popularity started to dwindle after that. Recent years have seen the genre undergo something of a resurgence however, and with the likes of Cats and Wicked in production, it doesn’t appear like it will be waning anytime soon.

Thankfully, musicals have moved on from the overtly saccharine features of earlier years, and now pretty much anything can be made into a musical. One such unlikely film is Anna and the Apocalypse, a Christmas-set musical with zombies. The BAFTA winning film arrives on home entertainment platforms on 8th April, and it got us thinking about our favourite musicals with bite, here are a few of them.

Anna and the Apocalypse

We’ll start with the newest addition to the list, Anna and the Apocalypse.

Joseph Baxter Apr 4, 2019

The Menu, a comedic horror film from SidewaysAlexander Payne, is looking to cast Emma Stone and Ralph Fiennes.

Here’s a movie pitch that, in the very least, is intriguing: A comedic horror thriller, starring Emma Stone and Ralph Fiennes, set on an island getaway for foodies on which ominously mysterious culinary delights are served. Well, such a project, titled The Menu, appears to be in the industry pipeline.

Indeed, it is being reported by Collider that Emma Stone and Ralph Fiennes are being eyed to star in The Menu. The genre project from eccentric visionary Alexander Payne resides at Gary Sanchez Productions, brandishing a script by the duo of Will Tracy (Succession) and Seth Reiss (Late Night With Seth Meyers), with the company represented by producers in founders Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, along with Betsy Koch.
