Episode 1

Martin Shaw steps into the shoes of Adam Dalgliesh. He is romancing a lady but a murder gets in his way.

Neville Dupayne is a trustee with his siblings with a small family museum. It has an infamous Murder Room that displays relics of murders that occurred between the wars.

Neville wants to sell up, his brother and sister wish to continue. If the museum closes, staff would lose their jobs. Neville would be alright, he is a psychiatrist.

His body is found in a burnt out car. It mirrors a grisly death as featured in the Murder Room.

This was pretty slow going. It seemed to mainly consist of the Dupayne's arguing. There was no need for the 90 minutes length of the first episode.

Also Shaw's version of Commander Dalgliesh was just grumpy. Nothing poetic about him at all.
