An artful look on three women and a lost novelist
19 April 2016 | by OJTSee all my reviews

The comedy "Women in Oversized Men's Shirts" is the feature debut of Yngvild Sve Flikke, and a sweet little film that gives both a nice laugh as well as a solid look on everyday life, as it can be for average people around.

We meet the women, all at very different stages in their life, all still keen on realizing themselves, and all having the usual female everyday problems. The student in her 20'ies, the pregnant artist in her 40'ies, and the near pensioner in her 60'ies. All are interested in art nd literature, though in different ways, and they all at different levels get to know a male author with success with his last novel. They are all authentic, which the writer isn't...

I find the film to have great and realistic comical timing, and having quite some charming moments. However, the film doesn't manage to interest me more than on an average level. Still, the film is filled with surreal moments of media shots which our life is full of. The occasional TV-clip about art, the reality program on TV, the scene from a book, to which all are easy - or not so easy - to relate.

I find these comedies, which is trying to give different perspectives on equal or different sides of life and generations quite attractive. sad, but still uncannily and unforgiving funny.

The actors are all doing a great job, with Anne Krigsvoll as the undoubled queen of them all here. the acting is perhaps the best part of the film, which must really show a great talent of a new film maker.

Well done.
