Cannes: Robert Pattinson, Shailene Woodley Attend Starry Vanity Fair Party
It’s true what they say about Batman being a loner. On Saturday night, Robert Pattinson made his first public appearance since being cast as the new Dark Knight at this year’s Vanity Fair Party at the Cannes Film Festival. But while all the other A-list guests mingled and worked the crowd at the restaurant of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Pattinson kept to himself in a corner, making small talk with a few friends.

At around midnight, Shailene Woodley approached Pattinson and they launched into a long conversation. Woodley had come from the dance floor, where she’d been tearing it up with a male friend dressed in a golden Gucci jacket. As Woodley made a few jokes, Pattinson finally cracked a smile. Maybe the new Batman will do the same.

The Vanity Fair party at Cannes is a tradition, and this was the first one hosted by editor-in-chief Radhika Jones,

Hulu looks to ‘Catch-22’ for its 1st Emmy nomination as Best Limited Series

Hulu is making another play for its first Best Limited Series nomination with a high-profile contender in “Catch-22,” which is now available to stream in its entirety starting this weekend. The Italy-set World War II satire is summed up by Rotten Tomatoes in “Critics Consensus: A deft adaptation of Joseph Heller’s seminal novel, ‘Catch-22’s’ handsomely rendered, hilariously horrifying exploration of war soars thanks to its stellar cast and reverent adherence to its source material.”

SEEour exclusive interview with “Catch-22” star Christopher Abbott.

Hulu is submitting only three actors for Emmy consideration: Christopher Abbott in Best Movie/Limited Actor and both Emmy winner Kyle Chandler and Oscar winner George Clooney in Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor. One of These Custom Godzilla: King of the Monsters Xbox One Xs Could Be Yours

Microsoft has unveiled a brand new series of Xbox One X consoles for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The best part? The company is giving them away to a few lucky winners. It's not at all uncommon for big companies like Microsoft to do tie-in promotions for major Hollywood blockbusters. Surely many people of a certain age remember the old Taco Bell ads for the 1998 American Godzilla? Sometimes these promotions are cooler than others. In this case, this is pretty near the top of the list, in terms of coolness.

The official Xbox Twitter account unveiled the consoles recently. There are four in total, all custom designed to resemble one of the main four creatures at the center of the upcoming movie; Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. The consoles don't just have a little bit of flair, mind you. They're totally decked out in the trappings of their respective monster.

Tribeca Film Review: ‘Blow the Man Down’

  • Variety
There’s a certain tingle that sets in when you realize that a thriller is naturalistic enough not to rely on thriller tricks. It means that you may be denied some of the knee-jerk pleasures audiences have come to expect — the jump scares and violent climaxes. The tradeoff is that it’s a lot easier to place yourself in the main characters’ shoes, to imagine what they’re going through as something that might actually be happening. And that, ironically, just ups the thriller juice.

Blow the Man Down,” directed by Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy (it’s their first feature), is a drama of murder, sex, and small-town secrets set in Easter Cove, a fishing village in Maine that brings to mind the windswept coastal town of “Manchester by the Sea” — in fact, the place is so tiny and barren and gnarled it makes Manchester by the Sea look like Rome.

Godzilla Blasts His Atomic Breath in Stunning King of the Monsters Poster

Godzilla Blasts His Atomic Breath in Stunning King of the Monsters Poster
We have a brand new poster for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. At this point, we've seen a couple of full-length trailers and some very meaty TV spots for the highly-anticipated movie. So, it's unlikely we're going to get much in the way of new footage ahead of its release next month. But that doesn't mean the studio isn't going to continue hammering away at us with all of the monster goodness this sequel has in store. Case in point, this new poster is about as epic as it gets.

This poster actually plays on one of the first images that was released for the sequel to director Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla. We see the king himself standing in the middle of the ocean, looking straight toward the sky and blasting his atomic breath to the heavens. He's surrounded by ships and military personnel in various aircraft. The whole poster

Godzilla 2 Will Unleash Never-Before-Seen Kaiju Monsters

Godzilla 2 Will Unleash Never-Before-Seen Kaiju Monsters
We already knew Godzilla: King of the Monsters was going to be a monster-packed affair, and it just got even more overstuffed with kaiju craziness. Not only are Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah, three classic Toho creations making their way to the big screen in this sequel, but it's been revealed that it's also going to contain at least one, if not more new monsters created specifically for this movie. That's a lot of monsters.

This new information comes directly from director Michael Dougherty, whose previous works include Krampus and Trick 'r Treat. He was on hand at Monsterpalooza over the weekend. Some of that event was overshadowed a tiny bit in the news cycle by the goings on at Star Wars Celebration. Dougherty, at one point, talked about what we can expect from the monsters in Godzilla 2 and he revealed this juicy little nugget. Here's what he had to say.

Why Michelle Williams Won't Watch Her Own Movies

Why Michelle Williams Won't Watch Her Own Movies
Like many actors, Michelle Williams refuses to watch herself act onscreen. The 38-year-old actress, who rose to fame with Dawson's Creek in the late '90s and was later nominated for Oscars for her performances in the films Brokeback MountainBlue Valentine, My Week with Marilyn, and Manchester by the Sea, explained her reasoning on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday. "I love what I do, and I love being inside of it," she began. "And the experience of watching it takes me to the outside of the thing that I did, and my relationship with that is not as healthy." "It makes me timid," she continued. "I'll judge myself and then...

Art-House Circuit Offers Alternate Route Into China for U.S. Films

Art-House Circuit Offers Alternate Route Into China for U.S. Films
Despite some censorship of its gay content, “Bohemian Rhapsody” has broken the box office record in China for a film imported by the country’s small but growing National Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas. As of April 1, after just 10 days in theaters, the film has taken in RMB80.3 million ($11.1 million) in limited release. The movie has surpassed the alliance’s previous highest-grossing title — “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” which took in $10.3 million — and drawn attention to a little-known route for foreign films attempting to get into China without being hampered by the official quota for overseas titles.

The world’s most populous country has only a handful of dedicated art-house cinemas. Though Chinese art films continue to garner top prizes abroad, their box office prospects at home have historically been pitiable — so much so that, in 2016, a video went viral of an elderly producer literally getting on his knees to beg

Godzilla Conquers the Titans in Epic New King of the Monsters TV Trailer

Godzilla Conquers the Titans in Epic New King of the Monsters TV Trailer
We have a brand new image and TV spot for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. We're just a couple of months out from what looks like it could be one of the biggest, literally, blockbusters of the year. There are four gigantic monsters, Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah, all about to throw down in epic fashion before our very eyes. This is the movie monster fans have been waiting for and, based on these latest looks at the highly-anticipated sequel, it's not going to let us down.

Starting with the new TV spot, it's making a strong point that this is all about monsters fighting other big monsters. Not nearly as much nuance or clever perspective as its predecessor. Just a good old-fashioned kaiju beat down, but with modern effects that look absolutely incredible. It's also set to a very creepy version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz,

‘Dawson’s Creek’ reunion at the Emmys? Michelle Williams, James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson have shows in contention

We’ve come a long way since Capeside. The WB’s teen soap opera “Dawson’s Creek” never got the time of day from the Emmys, but it made stars of its actors, so much so that several of them have shows in contention 20 years later. Could Michelle Williams, James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson all get their first nominations this summer?

Williams is probably the most likely of the three to earn a bid, and she’s arguably the show’s most successful alum. After playing the troubled Jen Lindley on “Dawson’s Creek” she embarked on a movie career that has resulted in four Oscar nominations so far, for “Brokeback Mountain” (2005), “Blue Valentine” (2010), “My Week with Marilyn” (2011) and “Manchester by the Sea” (2016). Now she’s a likely contender for Best Movie/Limited Actress for playing real-life dancer Gwen Verdon in FX’s miniseries “Fosse/Verdon.” According to the
