Versailles 3
26 June 2016 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

Louis wants to keep his aristocrats close to him so they cannot plot against him and he can demand their wealth for his new project.

Montcourt who was humiliated by King Louis in the previous episode has found a Duke who will ally with him and instigate highway robberies to steal gold and disrupt the building of Versailles.

Philippe is off to war but his gay lover has opted to stay behind to mind the shop while he is away.

Like modern Frenchmen, Louis is convinced he can plunder Africa's wealth for his palace and the glory of France. He invites Prince Annaba of Assinia to create an alliance and that Louis can be trusted to protect him. Louis plays games with Prince Annaba who we are told had briefly met the Queen at an earlier time. Louis takes him to a monastery and shows him the black baby, which puts to rest that the father was not the midget found drowned in the previous episode.

Well the Price Annaba subplot was intriguing, he really is a fast mover to impress Queen Beatrice. The rest of the episode move in its soapy way but still a lot of staring in mirrors and pouting.
