Storyline

Tom takes the stand, initially putting Mark in a bad light until Jocelyn questions him but when Mark gives his evidence it almost derails the trial and his marriage, though it reconciles Ellie with Beth and Tom. Meanwhile Jocelyn receives double bad news. Hardy and Ellie find evidence to connect Pippa to Ashworth and Claire, the latter now proving to be very unreliable. Whilst one of Sharon's team dishes the dirt on a local resident Hardy is released from hospital after having a pace-maker fitted and is reacquainted with former colleague and ex-wife Tess Henchard. Hard to Watch

More byplay between these two horrid people. The old case is looked on with new eyes. It would appear that forces that never thought they would meet begin the steps toward congeniality. Alec continues to use Miller for his own purposes to get his own way in his old case. His health suffers more and more. The pacemaker that could cause his death is now an absolute necessity. There is more intrigue in court as the defense attorney presents no evidence. She simply makes up a possible alternate conclusion and sells it to the jury. Miller finally confronts her son. Beth and Mark are sailing farther apart and his basic dishonesty continues.
