According to Pablo Schreiber (who plays Kris "Tanto" Paronto) in a January 13, 2016 interview, he received three injuries during the course of making 13 Hours. To stay in shape for the role he would lift weights and ended up injuring his back while doing dead lifts. He later tore his MCL cliff jumping and then a couple days later, broke his wrist. Schreiber received the broken wrist from sitting on the open tailgate of a pickup truck. When the driver of the truck gunned the engine, Schreiber flew off the back which resulted in his injury. He had to wear a hard shell brace that was flesh toned to conceal the injury. Schreiber stated they took out the brace in post production but there are still some scenes where it is visible. Particularly the scenes where the operatives are guarding the annex.
