Storyline

Music video to Robert Palmer's smash classic hit "Addicted to Love", one of the most iconic clips of the 1980's and also one of the most spoofed as well. It consists of Palmer performing the song with an all-female rock band, all wearing black dresses and with similar makeup and bright red-lipstick that seems to cause the effect we're seeing variations of the same girl. Trivia

Noddy Holder (the lead vocalist of English rock band Slade) stated in an interview that this song was the main track he wished he'd written himself. "The one main song that I wish that I'd written and recorded is 'Addicted to Love' by Robert Palmer. To me, that's a perfect pop song. Everything about it really hits the nail on the head." Simple but iconic
27 December 2016 | by Rodrigo_AmaroSee all my reviews

From the series "greatest icons of the 1980's", this clip is just pure awesomeness! "Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love" not only feels classic with his power-rock ballad song but the video and its remarkable visuals are one of the top things of that great decade.

Idea: Palmer all dressed in white, black-tie and singing that sexy song followed but his band - an all-girl band, dressed in red, same type of hair and makeup that for one moment you actually think is the very same woman playing all instruments. Despite the androgynous types there's something bold and sexy while they're playing doing the same cold expression in their faces...the emotion is all destined to Palmer. Cut to years later, Shania Twain makes her version but trading the girls for similar sexy and cold guys as members of her band.

A song that made part of flicks like "Cocktail" and "Ready to Wear" (meh to both), this one had a major importance on Palmer's career, possibly his most expressive and biggest hit of all-time. And obviously the clip had something to do with it, back in a time when artist/musician videos could make or break a star. Simple elements but they worked big time. It's all about what we can see and the effect it causes on us. 9/10
